Amara Raja Batteries Renamed Amara Raja Energy and Mobility

Amara Batteries Ltd, a well-known industrial and automotive battery manufacturer, has officially changed its name to Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd (ARE&M). The renaming is aimed at better representing the company’s evolution beyond batteries, encompassing a more comprehensive presence in the energy and mobility sectors.

In the last two years, ARE&M has executed a deliberate strategy to diversify its product and service offerings. The expansion now includes a diverse range of solutions and products such as automotive batteries, industrial batteries, battery energy storage solutions, the manufacturing of lithium-ion cells, a comprehensive array of electric vehicle chargers, assembly of lithium-ion battery packs, renewable energy storage solutions, battery management systems, and lubricants.

As reported by Business Standard, in November 2022, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Pvt Ltd (ARACT), a subsidiary of ARE&M, was established with the primary objective of supervising the lithium-ion initiatives. The company is in the process of setting up a massive 16 GWhgigafactory dedicated to the production of cells and battery packs. The brand also intends to establish a research and development centre named E Positive Energy Labs to support these initiatives.
