Ashoka Buildcon to Allocate Funds for Green Hydrogen Facility

Ashoka Buildcon Limited, a construction engineering company, has announced plans to invest ₹9,000 crore in a green hydrogen plant in Bihar.

Mayank Sharma, COO, Renewable Energy, revealed this during the Bihar Business Connect 2024. At the event, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government.

Solar Power to Drive Green Hydrogen Production

The proposed plant will feature a 1,250 MW solar project to generate clean electricity. The process will use this electricity to produce green hydrogen through water electrolysis.

Sharma stated, “We are planning the first phase of the plant at Begusarai in Bihar.”

Timeline for Implementation

The first phase of the project is expected to be commissioned within 1.5–2 years after receiving all necessary clearances. The second phase will commence soon after.

Focus on Sustainability

Green hydrogen is considered the cleanest energy source, emitting only water when used. Ashoka Buildcon’s initiative aligns with its commitment to sustainable energy solutions, complementing its existing portfolio of infrastructure projects.

A Diversified Order Book

As of March 31, 2024, Ashoka Buildcon reported an order book worth ₹11,697 crore.

Roads and railway projects account for ₹6,214 crore (53%), while power transmission and distribution (T&D) receives ₹4,796 crore.

Key Projects Completed and Upcoming

The company recently completed a 150 MW solar power plant for NTPC in Rajasthan. It also holds major contracts, including a ₹662.55 crore joint venture with CIDCO to construct a link road to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).

Ashoka Buildcon’s investment in green hydrogen marks a significant step toward advancing clean energy, as reported by projectstoday.com. This move solidifies the company’s position as a leader in sustainable infrastructure development.
