AstraZeneca India to Expand Technology Centre

AstraZeneca India, the global capability centre (GCC) for pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, planning to invest ₹250 crore to expand its Global Innovation and Technology Centre (GITC) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The expansion will create around 1,300 positions aimed at fostering innovation, increasing efficiency, and optimizing operations worldwide.

By 2025, the highly skilled roles will support the company’s vision of utilizing technologies like enterprise platforms, AI, machine learning, and supply chain analytics to achieve better outcomes.

Currently, the GITC occupies 3,34,000 sq.ft. of office space at Ramanujan IT City. Plans are underway to add approximately 1,80,000 sq.ft. in the next six months, making it AstraZeneca’s largest GCC. The move aligns with the trend of other global corporations establishing GCCs in Chennai.

As reported by projectstoday.com, AstraZeneca is advancing its technologies to better serve patients across its operating regions. Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister TRB Rajaa highlighted that this investment will boost the state’s capabilities in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, as well as drive technological progress and economic growth.
