BASF Launches New HDPE Brand “Easiplas™” at Zhanjiang Verbund Site

BASF has unveiled Easiplas™, a new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) brand designed to cater to the growing demand for advanced plastics in the Chinese market.

Alongside this launch, BASF marked significant progress in constructing its HDPE plant at the Zhanjiang Verbund site.

A Name Rooted in Functionality and Integration

The name Easiplas™ reflects its core focus: combining “Ease of use” with “Ethylene” and “Plastics.”

The brand embodies BASF’s backward integration into the ethylene (C2) value chain, ensuring the production of HDPE that is user-friendly, high-quality, and easy to process.

Backed by a team of industry experts and technical support, Easiplas™ highlights BASF’s dedication to customer-centric innovation.

By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and renewable energy sources in its production processes, Easiplas™ also underscores BASF’s commitment to sustainability.

The efforts aim to deliver high-performance solutions with reduced carbon footprints for industries including consumer goods, packaging, construction, and transportation.

Supporting Industry Needs

“The introduction of Easiplas™ is a milestone for our HDPE business and officially launches our products in the market,” said Xu Yang, HDPE Business Management Director of Petrochemicals Asia Pacific at BASF.

Yang added, “The brand reinforces our commitment to offering competitive, innovative, and sustainable HDPE solutions that address our customers’ evolving needs”.

Construction Milestones at Zhanjiang Verbund Site

Progress continues on the HDPE plant at the Zhanjiang Verbund site, which began construction in 2023.

Recent achievements include the successful lifting and installation of key components such as a reactor and a product purge bin.

These milestones pave the way for the plant’s mechanical completion.

“The smooth transportation and installation of major equipment highlight the exceptional teamwork and dedication of all stakeholders,” said Hui Feng, Vice President of Basic Petrochemicals Operations for Petrochemicals Asia Pacific at BASF.

Feng added, “We remain on track to complete construction and start operations by the end of 2025.”

Expanding HDPE Capacity

The Zhanjiang plant has an annual production capacity of 500,000 metric tons. It will produce polyethylene, a versatile thermoplastic polymer derived from ethylene.

Its applications range from heavy-duty storage tanks and pipelines to flexible packaging and films.

According to the press release, BASF has launched Easiplas™ and is developing a state-of-the-art plant. These initiatives reinforce its position as a leader in delivering innovative, sustainable HDPE solutions tailored to diverse market demands.
