The BC Jindal Group is set to make a significant foray into India’s renewable energy sector, with plans to invest $2.5 billion over the next five years.
To spearhead the initiative, the Group has established Jindal India Renewable Energy (JIRE), which will manage various new projects in the renewable energy domain. Angul, Odisha, known for its 1,200 MW thermal power plant, is a key site in this venture.
JIRE’s ambitious goal is to generate 5 GW of power through a mix of solar, wind, hybrid, and floating solar technologies, contributing to global decarbonisation efforts.
The BC Jindal Group, which boasts a turnover exceeding ₹18,000 crore, will oversee the renewable power generation and solar cell/module manufacturing sectors as part of its strategy to diversify energy assets and bolster global sustainability initiatives.
As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, the initiative reflects a broader corporate shift towards reducing carbon footprints and is expected to significantly impact environmental goals, create numerous job opportunities, and foster technological advancements in the renewable energy sector.
