BGR Tech Ltd., a Prenora Investment holding company in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Stargate Hydrogen, an Estonian leader in Alkaline electrolyzer systems. Priyadershini Raghupathy, Founder and Chairperson of BGR Tech, and Marko Virkebau, CEO and Board Member of Stargate Hydrogen, formalized the partnership to bring cutting-edge green hydrogen solutions to India.
Deploying Advanced Alkaline Water Electrolyzer Technology
Under the collaboration, BGR Tech will introduce Stargate’s Stellar Series Alkaline Water Electrolyzer (AWE) to the Indian market. The Stellar Series AWE operates at high pressures of up to 32 bar and boasts a single stack capacity of up to 100 Nm³/h (500 kW). Its design minimizes maintenance and operational costs, making it a practical solution for large-scale hydrogen production.
Integration into BGR Tech’s Pilot Plant
BGR Tech will integrate the Stellar Series electrolyzer into its in-house pilot plant in Chennai. This facility includes an Ultra-Pure Water Treatment Unit, a Gas Separation Unit (GSU), and a Hydrogen Purification System (HPS). The pilot plant is expected to begin green hydrogen production by May 2025. It will serve as a research and development platform to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Supporting India’s Green Hydrogen Mission
The partnership aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to promote clean energy solutions and reduce carbon emissions. BGR Tech and Stargate Hydrogen are exploring opportunities for local manufacturing to support the “Make in India” initiative. This effort will further strengthen India’s green hydrogen infrastructure.
As per the press release, both companies aim to drive innovation by combining their expertise. They also seek to enhance energy security and contribute to India’s transition towards a sustainable future.
