BlueAlp and Recupero Etico Sostenibile (RES) signed a deal to create Italy’s first industrial-scale advanced recycling plant. The plant will process and convert 20,000 tons of mixed plastic waste annually and will be situated in Pettoranello del Molise, adjacent to RES’s current mechanical recycling operations.
The plant, which will be owned and operated by RES, is expected to be operational by mid-2026. BlueAlp will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and fabrication of the unit from its workshop in Eindhoven, and will also provide a technology license.
The plant will employ BlueAlp’s patented pyrolysis technology, designed to handle waste unsuitable for mechanical recycling, such as polyolefin film fractions. The technology will convert the plastic waste into pyrolysis oil, which can then be used as a substitute for raw materials in the production of virgin plastics, as well as in the chemical and petrochemical industries.
The project aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality recycled content, particularly from fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies seeking to achieve circularity in plastic food packaging. As reported by globuc.com, the collaboration with RES is described as having moved past the early adopter phase and being ready to address circularity on a global scale.
