Bondada Engineering Receives LoA for BESS Project

Bondada Engineering has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Telangana Power Generation Corporation (TGGENCO) for the development of a 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Telangana.

Project Awarded Through Competitive Bidding

TGGENCO granted the contract under a tariff-based global competitive bidding (TBCB) process, supported by viability gap funding (VGF). The project involves setting up a 100 MWh BESS—equivalent to 50 MW for 2 hours of storage—to support on-demand energy usage.

Build, Own, Operate Model Near Key Substation

Bondada Engineering will develop the storage facility on a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) basis near TGTRANSCO’s 400/220 KV substation at Shankarpally. The project will strengthen the region’s power infrastructure.

Project to be Completed in 18 Months

Valued at ₹204.20 crore, Bondada Engineering will complete the project within eighteen months from signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). As reported by business-standard.com, once operational, the system will play a key role in improving grid reliability and supporting Telangana’s energy transition goals.
