BP Plc is set to acquire a forty-nine percent stake in the Hyport green hydrogen project in Oman, partnering with Muscat based energy company OQ and Belgium’s Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering NV (DEME).
The Hyport Duqm project was selected during the initial round of Oman’s green hydrogen tender. Consequently, DEME and OQ signed a usufruct agreement with Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom) and the public authority for special economic zones and free zones (OPAZ) last year. The project is projected to generate approximately 57,000 tons of green hydrogen annually.
As reported by renewablesnow.com, BP is advancing another green hydrogen initiative near Duqm in the Al Wusta Governorate, southeastern Oman. The project is currently in the development phase, involving a data collection campaign using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) devices, solar stations, and meteorological masts.
