Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) received approval for a capital investment of ₹1,138 crore to expand the capacity of two key pipeline projects: the Cochin-Coimbatore-Karur Pipeline (CCKPL) and the Irugur-Devangonthi Pipeline (IDPL), which is currently under construction.
BPCL’s board of directors greenlit the capacity augmentation of both pipelines, along with the establishment of a petroleum storage terminal in Palakkad, Kerala.
The capacity of the CCKPL is set to increase from 3.3 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 7 MTPA. Additionally, the IDPL will see its capacity grow by 1.1 MTPA, raising its total capacity to 3.5 MTPA upon completion.
The expansion is designed to enhance the evacuation of refined petroleum products from BPCL’s Kochi refinery. The project is expected to be finished within 36 months, subject to regulatory approvals and land acquisition. As reported by projectstoday.com, BPCL plans to fund the investment using its internal resources.
