Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) and the Mumbai Port Sustainability Foundation (MPSF) to develop a green fuel ecosystem at Mumbai Port. Through the collaboration, BPCL and MbPA aim to establish electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the port, advancing its sustainability efforts.

The agreement also involves exploring cleaner fuel alternatives for diesel-powered vessels, enhancing the port’s green infrastructure and reducing its carbon emissions.

Furthermore, BPCL and MPSF will work together on waste management initiatives, including the segregation, storage, and handling of recyclable and non-recyclable solid waste at the port.

The partnership promotes environmentally responsible practices and contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable port operation. It highlights the use of innovative technologies to support research and development in the energy sector.

BPCL’s leadership in this area strengthens its commitment to driving India’s sustainable future, positioning Mumbai port as a model of environmental stewardship for other ports across the country. As reported by projectstoday.com, the collaboration focuses on leveraging LNG and green energy infrastructure, aligning with BPCL’s broader goal of achieving net zero emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 2040.
