Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and Maharatna PSU, today announced the national rollout of PNG and CNG Drive 2.0, reinforcing India’s clean energy transition and supporting the government’s vision to increase the share of natural gas in the country’s energy mix.

Nationwide Campaign

The launch included new television commercials under PNG Drive 2.0, created on behalf of the PNGRB Industry Committee. The campaign features actor and Member of Parliament Shri Ravi Kishan promoting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and actor Ms Sakshi Tanwar endorsing Pipe Natural Gas (PNG). The TVCs showcase the safety, affordability, convenience, and environmental benefits of natural gas. They also reinforce the sector’s commitment to cleaner energy adoption in India.

Campaign Runs Across India from January to March 2026

The nationwide drive will run from January 1 to March 31, 2026, under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). All City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities across the country are participating.

The initiative aims to accelerate adoption of:

*PNG for households, commercial establishments, and industrial users

*CNG for mobility applications

This will ensure cleaner, safer, and more reliable energy access for all segments.

Leadership Highlights Role in Nation-Building

Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing), BPCL, stated, “PNG & CNG Drive 2.0 is a strong step towards nation-building and improving ease of living for citizens. Natural gas provides safety, reliability, and uninterrupted supply—from kitchens to mobility—while significantly reducing carbon emissions. With India’s rapid urbanisation and mobility growth, this transition supports cleaner air, modern living, and the vision of a gas-based economy.”

‘Non-Stop Zindagi’ Campaign Emphasises Convenience and Reliability

The campaign theme ‘Non-Stop Zindagi’ positions natural gas as a continuous, worry-free fuel for homes, businesses, and transportation. PNG eliminates the need for cylinder refills, ensures controlled pressure, and enhances safety. CNG supports cleaner mobility without compromising performance or driving experience.

Pan-India Collaboration Among CGD Entities

Rahul Tandon, Business Head – Gas, BPCL, highlighted that the campaign reflects a nationwide partnership among public and private CGD entities. The initiative positions natural gas not just as a utility but as a life enabler. It supports households, commerce, industry, and mobility, while advancing India’s climate commitments, including Net Zero by 2070.

Neera Asthana Phate, GM, Mahanagar Gas Limited, added that PNG powers homes, offices, and restaurants, while CNG fuels cars, buses, and commercial transport. She emphasised that both fuels remain reliable companions throughout life, enabling cleaner living and mobility, and expressed confidence that the campaign will drive a nationwide clean energy movement.

Raman Malik, Head – PR & Brand, BPCL, noted that the initiative underscores the importance of clear communication in advancing India’s clean energy transition. He added that it helps spread awareness and encourages wider adoption across households and mobility sectors.

CGD Sector Achievements and Infrastructure Growth

India’s CGD infrastructure has grown significantly over the past decade:

*Authorised geographical areas increased from ~25–30 in 2014 to 307 areas, covering nearly 100% of the mainland.

*Against a minimum work programme target of 12.64 crore PNG household connections and 18,336 CNG stations by 2034, India has already achieved 1.61 crore PNG connections and 8,500+ CNG stations, laying over 3 lakh km of pipelines.

*Natural gas volumes have risen from 14.8 MMSCMD to 42 MMSCMD, reflecting growing adoption.

Recent PNGRB reforms, including the unified pipeline tariff under ‘One Nation, One Grid, One Tariff’, have improved affordability and access. These changes have led to notable reductions in PNG and CNG prices across regions.

Celebrity Endorsements to Deepen Public Engagement

As part of the awareness drive, the CGD industry has onboarded Sakshi Tanwar for PNG and Ravi Kishan for CNG outreach. These partnerships aim to deepen public engagement and accelerate adoption across urban and semi-urban India.

Driving Cleaner, Safer, and Sustainable Energy

As per the press release, BPCL will continue working with all CGD entities. The aim is to ensure widespread awareness and faster adoption of PNG and CNG. The campaign reinforces the vision of a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable energy future for India. It contributes to cleaner air, reliable energy access, and long-term national development.
