Chemical Engineering Institute Focusing on Green Living

The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), situated on the Jadavpur University campus, is gearing up to celebrate its platinum jubilee year with a strong emphasis on sustainable living and a commitment to reducing carbon footprints. The 76th Indian Chemical Engineering Congress, IIChE-CHEMCON 2023, being hosted by the institute at the Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata from December 27 to 30, is concentrating around the theme, ‘Energy Transition: Challenges and Opportunities’. IIChE President Anil Saroha said, “The institute’s goal is to foster widespread awareness regarding the adoption of green energy”.

With a membership of 32,000 individuals nationwide, encompassing 46 regional centres and 182 student chapters, IIChE is a significant force in the chemical engineering community. As reported by The Times of India, the event is expected to draw over 500 participants, including academics, researchers, industry professionals, and students. Delegates from 11 countries, such as the USA, Canada, UK, South Africa, and Bangladesh, will contribute to the international character of the congress. The collaboration involves the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, JAIS, Jadavpur University, and the Heritage Institute of Technology.
