Chemplast Unveils Plans for Refrigerant Gas Manufacturing Facility

Chemplast Sanmar, one of the key player in India’s specialty chemicals landscape, announced a ₹340 crore investment in a greenfield project dedicated to manufacturing R32 refrigerant gas. R32 is gaining global traction in HVAC and cooling systems due to its significantly lower global warming potential (GWP) compared to traditional refrigerants. The move aligns with increasing global and domestic regulatory focus on climate-friendly cooling solutions.

Strategic Expansion in Specialty Chemicals

Alongside the refrigerant project, Chemplast continues to strengthen its presence in the specialty chemicals segment through its Custom Manufactured Chemicals (CMC) division. Phase two of its Multi-Purpose Production Block (MPB 3) has already commenced operations as of Q4 FY25. Meanwhile, phase three project activities and civil infrastructure work for MPB 4 are progressing steadily.

Outlook

Chemplast’s CMC business delivered impressive results in FY25, registering over 80% year-on-year revenue growth. This performance highlights strong customer demand and the company’s growing capabilities in delivering custom chemical solutions. These developments mark Chemplast Sanmar’s strategic intent to drive growth through innovation, sustainability, and diversification. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, by investing in climate-resilient technologies and expanding specialty chemical capacities, the company is well-positioned to meet evolving market needs both in India and globally.
