Chevron to Establish Technology Hub in Bengaluru

Chevron, an energy company, is making a substantial investment in India with plans to establish a new engineering and technology centre in Bengaluru. The project, known as the Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Centre, or ‘The Engine,’ marks a significant milestone for the 145-year-old company.

The aim of the hub is to develop innovative solutions that are not only cost-effective and dependable, but also contribute to a cleaner energy future. The investment is among the largest in Chevron’s history, reflecting the company’s commitment to advancing technology that will support the global transition to more sustainable energy sources.

The Bengaluru facility is expected to play a key role in this effort by involving employees in meaningful work that addresses the challenge of providing affordable energy while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions.

Chevron’s investment in Bengaluru will be distributed over five to six years. The Engine will function as a global solutions centre, supporting Chevron’s worldwide operations through advanced work in digital technologies. A major focus of the centre will be the establishment of digital labs, particularly in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and neural networks.

The labs will conduct a variety of activities, from using AI and machine learning to analyze subsurface geology, which is essential for identifying optimal locations for carbon storage and safer drilling sites to creating digital twins of complex industrial facilities.

The digital twins will help monitor and optimize operations on a global scale, ensuring a more reliable supply chain. Robotics will also be a significant area of focus at the Engine. As reported by firstpost.com, Chevron’s technology hub in Bengaluru is set to become a crucial part of the company’s efforts to drive innovation in the energy sector, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and efficient global energy landscape.
