Chhattisgarh unveiled India’s largest battery energy storage system-based solar power plant, marking a significant advancement in renewable energy. Nestled in the hilly terrain near Gram Dhaba on Dongargarh Road in Rajnandgaon district, the initiative represents a noteworthy stride towards sustainable energy solutions.

The plant distinguishes itself with the deployment of 2,39,000 bifacial solar panels, each boasting a capacity of 660 watts. The state-of-the-art setup ensures uninterrupted power supply round-the-clock, including during nighttime, courtesy the integrated battery system. Generating over 5,00,000 units of electricity daily, the solar park is expected to mitigate approximately 4,50,000 metric tons of carbon emissions, championing the cause of green energy.

As reported by SOLARQUARTER, the ambitious project, led by the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA), commenced in 2016 with the goal of harnessing the vast potential of the Baron hill area in Rajnandgaon district. Through careful planning and execution, CREDA, in collaboration with the Solar Corporation of India (SECI) and Chhattisgarh Power Distribution Company, has successfully brought to fruition a groundbreaking 100-megawatt on-grid solar power plant.
