Copeland, Owned by Blackstone, Planning to Expand Export Market Share

Blackstone-owned Copeland, manufacturer of compressors, is looking to bolster its presence in India by increasing its export share. Currently, India serves as a key export hub, accounting for approximately sixty percent of Copeland’s total production output.

Specializing in heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems, Copeland recently committed ₹500 crore towards expanding its operations in India. The investment will go towards scaling up its manufacturing capacity, establishing a research and development (R&D) center in Pune, and setting up an IT hub.

The new production facility will manufacture advanced scroll compressors, enhancing the company’s product lineup for leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the air conditioning industry.

“We are witnessing significant growth and immense market potential in India’s HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) sector,” said Sandeep Gupta, Vice-President and Managing Director, Copeland India.

Copeland currently operates a manufacturing facility in Pune, and this expansion will add an additional 7,350 square meters of space over the next five years. The company’s current manufacturing output stands at 1.5 million units.

The expansion is set to open up North America as a new export market, complementing its existing exports to Asia and South America. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, Copeland has an engineering centre in Satara, which supports local manufacturing efforts, while the new R&D center will aid the company’s global growth.
