Dr. S. Sridhar, a scientist at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), has been honoured as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in London, according to the ministry of science and technology.
Dr. Sridhar, recognized for his extensive research in membrane technology, has had a distinguished twenty-six-year career during which he developed and transferred numerous technologies to the chemical and allied industries, significantly benefiting societal welfare.
As reported by thehansindia.com, Dr. Sridhar’s notable achievements include the commissioning of multiple membrane pilot plants. The plants, utilizing electrodialysis, nanofiltration, gas permeation, and reverse osmosis, have capacities ranging from 500 to 5,000 L/h and are employed in solvent recovery, effluent treatment, and gas purification across various industries such as pharmaceuticals, steel, textiles, aroma chemicals, and petrochemicals.
Additionally, Dr. Sridhar made significant contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic by designing low-cost, multilayer washable masks, which were distributed to over six lakh individuals, including school children and frontline workers.
