DCM Shriram to Invest in Greenfield Epoxy Resin Plant

DCM Shriram, a diversified agricultural firm, announced a substantial investment of ₹1,000 crore over the coming years to establish a new plant dedicated to the production of epoxy resin. Known for its involvement in chemicals, fertilizers, sugar, and seeds sectors, DCM Shriram’s board has provisionally approved the expansion of its chemical division into the realm of advanced materials by venturing into epoxy and related value-added products.

The company aims to construct a cutting-edge greenfield epoxy manufacturing facility. Its epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant in Jhagadia, Gujarat, is nearing completion and is anticipated to commence operations in the initial quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year. ECH, a precursor to epoxy, is a crucial component, with over 80% of the global ECH production utilized in epoxy manufacturing.

As reported by moneycontrol, the comprehensive range of advanced materials products, encompassing liquid epoxy resins, hardeners, solvent cuts, reactive diluents, and formulated resins, is witnessing growing demand across diverse sectors. These sectors include wind-blade production, electric vehicles, aeronautics, electronics, fireproofing, and lightweight industries.
