Recognizing Farmers for Sustainable Water Conservation
A key highlight of the event was the Farmers’ Felicitation Ceremony, organized by Dhanuka Agritech Ltd, to honor farmers who have made exceptional contributions to sustainable water conservation in agriculture. Notable attendees included Padma Shri Dr. Umashankar Pandey, Shri Kanwal Singh Chauhan (Padma Shri Awardee, Member FSSAI, Govt of India, and GB Member ICAR), alongside other distinguished experts and policymakers.

Padma Shri Dr. Umashankar Pandey said, “Since India lacks a dedicated university for water studies, I urge corporate and industry leaders to establish a Water Museum and Water Library to foster awareness and education on water conservation”.

Dr. Alok K Sikka, Country Representative – India and Bangladesh, CGIAR-IWMI, stated, “We must carefully balance water supply with demand while implementing incentives for sustainable resource use”.
Kaushal Jaiswal, President, Irrigation Association of India and Managing Director, Rivulis Irrigation India Pvt. Ltd., emphasized practical solutions, noting that while water resources exist, conservation efforts remain inconsistent. He highlighted the need to promote drip irrigation for efficient water use in agriculture.
Dr. T.B.S. Rajput, Adjunct Professor (Ag. Engineering), IARI, New Delhi, pointed out the growing challenge of water availability in agriculture. He stated, “Reducing agricultural water consumption to 60% through smart irrigation techniques is essential for long-term sustainability.”
