Epic Energy, through its subsidiary Swachcha Urja Nirman LLP (SUN LLP), has entered into a ten-year technology transfer agreement with the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET). The agreement grants Epic Energy the license to use C-MET’s hydrometallurgical process for recycling end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, excluding lithium ferro phosphate batteries.

Facility Plans and Operational Timeline

SUN LLP plans to set up the battery recycling facility in either Maharashtra or Gujarat. The company expects commercial operations to begin by the third quarter of FY 2026, with an initial processing capacity of one tonne per day. The estimated capital investment for this facility is under $1 million, and the project is projected to achieve break-even by FY 2027.

C-MET’s Role in Advancing Electronics Technology

C-MET, an institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), plays a key role in developing pilot-scale production technologies for electronic materials. The organization focuses on creating indigenous processes, products, and technologies to strengthen India’s industrial growth in the electronics sector.

As reported by pv-magazine-india.com, the Epic Energy and C-MET agreement underscores Epic Energy’s commitment to sustainable battery recycling and aligns with India’s vision of self-reliance in electronic materials and circular economy initiatives.
