In February, India saw an eight percent increase in mineral production compared to the same month last year. The mining and quarrying sector’s index of mineral production stood at 139.6 for February 2024.
Over the period from April to February in the fiscal year 2023-24, there was a cumulative growth of 8.2%, according to preliminary data from the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), as informed by the ministry of mines.
During February, notable outputs included 966 lakh tons of coal, 42 lakh tons of lignite, 2,886 million cubic meters of utilized natural gas, and 23 lakh tons of crude petroleum, among other resources. As reported by Business Standard, minerals such as gold, copper concentrate, bauxite, chromite, phosphorite, limestone, and coal exhibited upward trends in production.
