FILTECH 2026, the world’s leading exhibition and conference for filtration and separation technologies, will return to Cologne, Germany, from 30 June to 2 July 2026. The event promises to be bigger than ever, with over 600 exhibitors showcasing advanced air and water filtration systems designed to meet the rigorous safety and performance standards of industries such as food and beverage processing, mining, and mineral extraction.
Strong International and Indian Participation Expected
Reflecting the industry’s global momentum, FILTECH 2026 expects to draw 61% of its visitors from outside Germany, as interest continues to grow from India, North Africa, South America, and the Middle East, alongside strong participation from Europe, the USA, and Asia. India, in particular, plays a significant role — in 2024, it ranked third among the top non-European visiting countries, and numerous Indian companies plan to exhibit once again.
Conference to Feature 200+ Expert Lectures
Running in parallel with the exhibition, the FILTECH 2026 Conference will present over 200 expert lectures, delving into all dimensions of the filtration industry. At the previous event, delegates explored forward-looking concepts such as customised high-performance membranes at the nanoscale. They also examined the integration of AI and digital twin technologies to enhance filter efficiency and overall system performance.
Key Trends in Filter Media
FILTECH 2024 highlighted several exciting trends in filter media innovation, many of which will continue to gain traction through 2026:
*Nanofibre-enhanced nonwovens are becoming increasingly essential for high-efficiency filtration.
*Sustainable raw materials are being adopted as alternatives to conventional synthetics.
*Promising new feedstocks include PETG, a sustainable polyester alternative, along with PLA and polycaprolactone (PL).
*Natural cellulose is now being electrospun into ultrafine fibres (as small as 300nm), offering lightweight strength with low thermal expansion.
*Chitosan, a bio-based polymer with high water uptake properties, is being used to form hydrogels.
*Green solvents are replacing toxic and petrochemical-derived substances in electrospinning processes.
Innovation Driving New Markets
“Every edition of FILTECH continues to reveal the incredible diversity of applications and the pace of innovation in the filtration industry,” says Suzanne Abetz, Managing Director of FILTECH. She adds, “The rise of electric mobility, hydrogen transportation and storage, and carbon capture technologies is expanding the market for effective filtration systems. These developments are driving a new wave of R&D and technology adoption.”
