The Prime Minister laid the foundation for significant petroleum and natural gas ventures valued at over ₹9,000 crore in Tamil Nadu. Two key projects comprise of a 488-km natural gas pipeline by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), spanning from IP101 (Chengalpet) to IP 105 (Sayalkudi) along the Ennore-Thiruvallur-Bengaluru-Puducherry-Nagapattinam-Madurai-Tuticorin Pipeline, and a 697-km petroleum pipeline (VDPL) from Vijayawada to Dharmapuri by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).

Additional initiatives involve Gas Authority of India Ltd’s (GAIL) development of a 323-km natural gas pipeline from Krishnagiri to Coimbatore within the Kochi-Koottanad-Bangalore-Mangalore Gas pipeline II (KKBMPL II), and the installation of petroleum pipelines in a Common Corridor for the proposed terminal at Vallur, Chennai.

As reported by PSUWATCH, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Demonstration Fast Reactor Fuel Reprocessing Plant (DFRP) at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam. Developed at a cost of ₹400 crore, the DFRP boasts a unique design, unparalleled globally, capable of reprocessing both carbide and oxide fuels discharged from fast reactors. Entirely conceived by Indian scientists, this facility marks a pivotal stride towards establishing large-scale commercial fast reactor fuel reprocessing plants.
