GAIL (India) Ltd. inaugurated its first ten MW green hydrogen plant in Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh, as part of the national green hydrogen mission. The plant is capable of producing 4.3 tons per day (TPD) of hydrogen through electrolyzers that use water electrolysis powered by renewable energy. The hydrogen produced will be 99.99% pure and generated at a pressure of thirty Kilogram per square centimetre.
Initially, the hydrogen from the plant will be utilized as a fuel in conjunction with natural gas for various processes and equipment at GAIL’s Vijaipur facility. Later, GAIL plans to distribute the hydrogen to retail customers in nearby areas using high-pressure cascades. As reported by CNBC TV18, to support the green hydrogen production, GAIL is also establishing a twenty MW solar power plant at Vijaipur to supply the necessary renewable energy for the electrolyzers.
