GAIL to Commission Inaugural Green Hydrogen Project in April

GAIL (India) Ltd will be commissioning its inaugural green hydrogen project in central India in April. The project features a ten-megawatt proton exchange membrane electrolyser located at the Vijaipur complex in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

The electrolyser, imported from Canada, is geared towards producing green hydrogen. It is anticipated to yield approximately 4.3 metric tons of hydrogen per day, boasting a purity level of about 99.999% by volume.

As reported by Reuters, the production process will be powered by renewable energy sources. The initiative aligns with India’s ambitious goal to achieve an annual green hydrogen production capacity of 5 million tons by 2030.
