Gautam Buddha University will be celebrating “World Food Day” on October 16, 2024. The event will be jointly organized by Department of Food Processing and Technology and Department of Environmental Science, University School of Vocational Studies and Applied Sciences, Gautam Buddha University.
The day is celebrated worldwide to commemorate the founding of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) by United Nations on October 16, 1945. For 2024, the World Food Day’s theme, as announced by FAO, is “Right to foods for a better life and a better future”.
Food is the third most basic human need after air and water and ensuring food security for all humans should be the prime responsibility of global community to avoid hunger and malnutrition.
The event will be organized at the international Convention Center, Gautam Buddha University. One of the highlights of the event shall be the display of products made from food waste. The event shall also have products displayed by various companies from food/allied sectors. As per the press release, the event shall have participation of students from Gautam Buddha University, other universities/colleges and higher secondary schools of Delhi-NCR region.
