Gautam Solar is set to launch a two GW solar cell manufacturing plant in its initial phase, with an estimated investment of ₹1,000 crore. The facility will address India’s increasing demand for renewable energy, in line with the ministry of new and renewable energy’s (MNRE) guidelines, which emphasize the inclusion of solar cells in the approved list of models and manufacturers (ALMM). The initiative aims to promote domestic production of solar cells.
The new solar cell plant will provide Gautam Solar with advanced, dependable solar technology, enhancing its ability to meet the growing demand for domestic content requirement (DCR) panels. This is particularly significant for government subsidized projects that mandate the use of locally produced components.
Gautam Solar secured a sixty-acre site in Bhiwani, Haryana, to manufacture solar panels and related raw materials. However, the company remains flexible regarding location, depending on the supporting ecosystem.
As reported by projectstoday.com, with a vertically integrated approach, the company plans to expand its capacity, building on its current Haridwar facility and the upcoming module manufacturing unit in Bhiwani.
