The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) has deepened its partnership with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) by signing the Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) agreement.
The new collaboration aims to raise $100 million to fund impactful solar energy projects across ISA’s member countries.
GEAPP’s Role in Solar Energy Projects
As the lead organization for the MDTF, ISA will play a crucial role in ensuring solar energy projects meet the specific needs of its member countries.
GEAPP will complement this effort through its Project Management Unit, providing essential governance oversight, facilitating fundraising, and leveraging its extensive expertise in energy transition planning, financing, and project implementation.
Launching DUET and ENTICE 2.0 for India’s Energy Transition
In addition to the MDTF, GEAPP also unveiled two key initiatives: DUET (Digitalization of Utilities for Energy Transition) and ENTICE 2.0 (Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge).
Together, these programs are designed to address financing gaps, build institutional capacity, and provide scalable, cost-efficient solutions to accelerate India’s clean energy transition.
DUET: Advancing Digitalization for Smarter Grids
DUET focuses on the digitalization of grid systems by developing a comprehensive technology suite. This includes capturing all grid assets digitally, integrating them with live smart sensors, and conducting real-time data analysis for improved energy management.
Through load flow analysis and real-time monitoring of voltage, current, and phase data, DUET aims to reduce transmission and distribution losses. It also facilitates the deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) integration into the grid.
ENTICE 2.0: Supporting Innovation in Clean Energy
ENTICE 2.0, powered by GEAPP, builds on the success of its predecessor, ENTICE 1.0. This platform identifies, nurtures, and scales innovative solutions that accelerate India’s energy transition.
Launching in January 2025, ENTICE 2.0 will expand its focus. It will support investable opportunities, providing startups with access to funding, market linkages, and mentorship.
Strategic Partnerships for Accelerating Clean Energy
GEAPP’s CEO, Woochong Um, stated, “The signing of the MDTF with ISA highlights how collaboration can unlock the full potential of renewable energy. It will also create a more resilient global energy system.”
Through initiatives like DUET and ENTICE 2.0, GEAPP aims to foster innovation. These efforts focus on delivering scalable solutions that promote sustainable economic growth and empower communities.
GEAPP’s Impact in India
Saurabh Kumar, Vice President – India at GEAPP, presented the organization’s three-year strategy. The strategy focuses on ENTICE 2.0 and its contributions to Energy Transition Planning (ETP) in India.
His vision aligns with GEAPP’s broader goals of advancing India’s clean energy transition and supporting global sustainability.
The Role of ISA
Founded in 2015 by India and France at the COP21 in Paris, the International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a global initiative. It has 120 member and signatory countries.
ISA aims to improve energy access, security, and promote solar power as a sustainable solution for a carbon-neutral future.
The Alliance seeks to unlock $1 trillion in solar investments by 2030. It aims to reduce technology costs. It also promotes solar energy use across various sectors, including agriculture, health, transport, and power generation.
As reported by pv-magazine-india.com, ISA is collaborating with GEAPP. This partnership will strengthen its efforts to deliver renewable energy access and help countries achieve their climate and energy goals.
