Gensol Engineering has bagged a 70 MW/140 MWh segment within a larger 250 MW/500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The endeavour, undertaken through a tariff-based global competitive bidding model, aims to furnish energy storage capacity in Gujarat.
Once operational, the project is poised to supply electricity to Gujarat State’s DISCOMs on an on-demand basis during peak and off-peak hours, furnishing 70 MW/140 MWh energy for two charge/discharge cycles daily. Battery energy storage systems are gaining traction globally for integrating renewables and managing grid uncertainties. Gensol’s provision of cutting-edge energy storage solutions, coupled with advanced energy management systems, is designed to meet stringent availability and efficiency standards.
As reported by moneycontrol, Gensol highlighted the burgeoning prospects for BESS in the country, underlining the robust policy support from the Government. The project stands as a significant milestone in the deployment of standalone BESS, poised to propel the growth trajectory for such initiatives.
