Gensol Engineering bagged a contract for a standalone 250 MW (500 MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) project from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). Valued at ₹1,340 crore, the project involves supplying electricity on an ‘on-demand’ basis to Gujarat’s distribution companies (DISCOMs) during both peak and off-peak hours. The initiative will extend the availability of renewable energy beyond daylight hours.
The project will provide 250 MW/500 MWh of energy through two charge/discharge cycles per day, thereby aiding in meeting energy storage purchase obligations and enhancing grid resilience.
As reported by Projects Today, the project will allow Gensol Engineering to make a substantial impact in the energy sector, solidifying its presence in the renewable energy market, and advancing the future of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in India.
