Grundfos, a Denmark-based pump manufacturer, is targeting sustained double-digit growth by tapping into opportunities within India. The company produces energy-efficient pumps, motors, and associated products across four main business divisions: industrial solutions, commercial building services, residential building services, and water utilities. Specifically, in the sectors of commercial buildings and government, Grundfos focuses on delivering solutions that conserve water and energy.
The industrial solutions division currently leads the company’s growth, influencing sectors such as mobility, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and increasingly, renewable energy. A significant part of this expansion is propelled by the urbanization of Tier-II and Tier-III cities. Additionally, Grundfos has expanded its Indian operations to include design and assembly, with a substantial portion of the necessary software for pumps being developed in its Chennai-based software division.
As reported by PROJECTS TODAY, Grundfos India is dedicated to enhancing the localization of its products to stay competitive in pricing. While the localization rate currently stands at approximately 40%, the company aims to increase this to around 60% within the next three to five years. Notably, in some products like motors, localization already reaches between 85% and 90%. Furthermore, the management is considering positioning India as an export hub for several of its products.
