Gruner Renewable Energy Secures Funding for CBG Initiatives

Gruner Renewable Energy (GRE) secured multiple contracts for the development of compressed biogas (CBG) plants throughout India, totalling ₹15 billion in value. GRE has obtained significant projects including eleven contracts worth ₹11 billion from an Indian conglomerate and an additional nineteen contracts amounting to ₹4 billion from various notable entrepreneurs.

The company intends to construct these CBG facilities to collectively produce 88,000 tonnes of CBG annually, targeting strategic locations across multiple Indian cities such as Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, Satna in Madhya Pradesh, Balasore in Orissa, Navsari in Gujarat, Yavatmal in Maharashtra, as well as Vijayawada and Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh.

GRE now manages thirty active projects nationwide. As reported by RenewableWatch, the company aims to increase its project portfolio to hundred, setting a goal to secure new projects worth ₹50 billion during the fiscal year 2024-25. In August 2023, GRE launched India’s first Bio-CNG plant utilizing Napier Grass, located in Lasanpur Village in the Wardha district of Maharashtra.
