Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with Australian firm Sicona to introduce Silicon-Carbon (SiCx®) anode technology to India. This next-generation advancement is set to significantly enhance lithium-ion battery performance—an essential component in the evolution of electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems.
Boosting Battery Efficiency and Performance
Through the collaboration, Himadri will localise and commercialise Sicona’s proprietary SiCx® technology in the Indian market. The SiCx® anodes offer 20% higher energy density and 40% faster charging compared to conventional graphite anodes—addressing two of the most critical challenges in accelerating EV adoption.
Powering India’s Clean-Tech Growth
The initiative strengthens India’s position in the global clean-tech supply chain. Himadri’s CEO, Anurag Choudhary, stated, “This partnership not only meets India’s growing EV and energy storage needs but also enables us to export next-generation battery materials to the world.” Sicona CEO Christiaan Jordaan lauded said, “Himadri’s world-class manufacturing capabilities and global presence make them the ideal partner.”
Accelerating India’s Energy Transition
Manufacturingtodayindia.com reports that this alliance positions Himadri to play a pivotal role in clean energy leadership, driving India’s vision of becoming a global hub for advanced battery innovation and manufacturing.
