Hindustan Zinc Limited, an integrated zinc producer and one of the world’s leading silver producers, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CMR Green Technologies Limited to establish a new manufacturing facility at the upcoming Zinc Park in Rajasthan. The agreement marks another significant step toward building India’s first integrated industrial ecosystem dedicated to zinc-based applications.

Strengthening the Zinc Park Ecosystem

The partnership represents the second major collaboration announced for the Zinc Park project. Earlier, Hindustan Zinc signed a similar MoU with Tripura Group. Once operational, the Zinc Park will serve as India’s first integrated hub for zinc-based industries, bringing together manufacturers, recyclers, and downstream processors in a single ecosystem. The initiative aims to accelerate industrial innovation and strengthen domestic supply chains for zinc-based materials.

Focus on Low-Emission Zinc Alloy Production

Under the agreement, CMR Green Technologies Limited—one of India’s largest non-ferrous metal recycling companies and among the largest globally—will manufacture high-quality, low-emission zinc alloys at the new facility. By focusing on advanced recycling and alloy manufacturing, the project will support downstream value addition in the zinc sector while promoting environmentally responsible metal processing.

Boosting India’s Industrial Self-Reliance

The new manufacturing unit will contribute to India’s broader efforts to strengthen domestic capabilities in strategic industrial materials. By encouraging value-added production and sustainable metal processing, the project aligns with the country’s push for greater industrial self-reliance. The facility will support the growing demand for zinc alloys in both domestic and international markets.

Zinc Park: A Renewable Energy–Powered Industrial Hub

The Zinc Park is being developed jointly by Hindustan Zinc Limited and Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO). The project aims to create a fully integrated zinc manufacturing hub powered by renewable energy. Its strategic location near Hindustan Zinc’s major operations—Chanderiya, Dariba, and Debari—will ensure efficient logistics and a reliable supply of raw materials. The Zinc Park will host micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as large-scale manufacturers involved in zinc-related applications.  To attract investors, the park will offer assured raw material supply, long-term procurement agreements, commercial incentives, and structured performance frameworks. As a result, the initiative is expected to drive value creation, employment generation, and advanced manufacturing development in Rajasthan.

Promoting Circular Economy and Sustainability

The project will also support circular economy principles by encouraging metal recovery, recycling, and reuse. This approach will help reduce environmental impact while ensuring efficient utilisation of valuable resources. Arun Misra, Arun Misra, CEO, Hindustan Zinc, emphasised the strategic importance of the collaboration. He said that CMR Green Technologies’ expertise in non-ferrous metal recycling and alloy production will play a crucial role in building an innovation-driven zinc ecosystem. “CMR Green Technologies’ leadership in non-ferrous metal recycling and strong capabilities in alloy production will play a pivotal role in building a future-ready, innovation-driven zinc ecosystem,” Misra added.

Advanced Recycling Capabilities

CMR Green Technologies Limited has long-standing partnerships with leading automotive manufacturers and major industrial companies. The firm uses advanced technologies to produce recycled metals with up to 95 percent lower emissions compared to primary metal production. Its deep expertise in circular metal processing and alloy manufacturing—particularly for the automotive industry—makes it a key partner in the development of the Zinc Park.

Building India’s First Downstream Zinc Industrial Cluster

Through the collaboration, Hindustan Zinc Limited continues to accelerate the creation of India’s first large-scale downstream zinc industrial cluster. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, by bringing together recycling, alloy manufacturing, and advanced industrial applications, the Zinc Park aims to foster innovation, sustainability, and long-term economic growth in the region while strengthening India’s global competitiveness in zinc-based industries.
