HPCL is set to commission its LNG terminal by the end of this year, with the project expected to be completed by December or January. The terminal will be located in Chhara, Gujarat and will have a capacity of five million tons per annum and is slated to commence operations in November.
HPCL is currently negotiating with eight to nine companies for long-term LNG supply deals, aiming to secure one LNG cargo each month starting in late 2026 or early 2027. The contracts will likely be tied to Brent crude oil prices.
The terminal’s infrastructure, including pipeline networks for LNG distribution, is already in place, positioning HPCL to cater to the growing demand for LNG in the future. As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, this HPCL LNG terminal is a critical element of HPCL’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in the LNG sector and meet India’s increasing energy demands.
