HURL Plans Major Expansion

Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) is embarking on a significant expansion plan, allocating approximately ₹3,000 crore for its projects in Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Barauni (Bihar), and Sindri (Jharkhand) to boost capacity to 50 lakh tons over the next 2-3 years.

Currently, HURL has a combined production capacity of 38 lakh tons across its three plants, and last year it achieved ninety-four percent capacity utilization. These units were established with an investment of nearly ₹27,900 crore.

Additionally, the company plans to set up an ammonium sulphate plant at its Barauni unit to utilize surplus ammonia. The expansion will take place in two phases, each adding 1.5 lakh tons of capacity. The first phase will involve an investment of ₹500 crore, while the second phase will require ₹300 crore, bringing the total project cost to around ₹800 crore.

HURL has also initiated work on a Nano urea plant, with technology transfer currently in progress. The company expects to issue the LSTK tender for the project by next month.

As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, the Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) for the Ammonium Sulphate plant at Barauni has been prepared and is nearing finalization, while the NPK plant is still in its early stages of development.
