ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP), Nagpur, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Coromandel International Limited (CIL), producer of fertilizers, crop protection chemicals, and specialty nutrient products.
The collaboration aims to advance the distribution of enhanced soil test-based crop nutrition management practices to benefit farmers in Maharashtra, especially in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions.
The partnership will leverage soil test based datasets from NBSS&LUP and Coromandel’s optimal nutritional management solutions to improve soil health and boost crop productivity in the area. The MoU also seeks to promote better coordination, research exchange, and support for the farming community.
Through the collaboration, Coromandel will implement advanced nutrition and crop management practices in Maharashtra, guided by soil information and farming advisories from ICAR-NBSS&LUP. The initiative will include site-specific nutrition demonstrations and farmer awareness programs.
As reported by krishijagran.com, the validated results from these efforts will be utilised to develop Decision Support Systems (DSS) via mobile applications to aid in crop selection and nutrient management.
