Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, a distinguished chair professor at IIT Kanpur, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri Award.

A Stellar Academic Journey
Dr. Sharma completed his BTech from IIT Kanpur in 1982 and began his academic career as an assistant professor in 1990.
By 1997, he had become a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the institute.
Over the years, he has spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives, including the establishment of the Nano Technology and Imaging Centres at IIT Kanpur.
Leadership Beyond Academia
Beyond the academic sphere, Dr. Sharma has made significant contributions at the national level.
During his tenure with the Ministry of Science and Technology in Delhi, he played a pivotal role in driving innovation and setting up multiple initiatives. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched several startup products that proved invaluable to patients.
