IIT Madras Makes ₹18 Crore in Revenue Through Technology Transfer This Year

In the current year, so far, IIT Madras has generated ₹18 crore through technology transfers, a notable increase from the ₹2 crore generated in the preceding fiscal year, as stated by the institute’s director, V Kamakoti. Among the companies that have obtained licenses for the institute’s intellectual properties (IPs) are Tejas from the Tata Group, specializing in 5G technology, Ricovr Healthcare Inc, SFI Mechatronics, and NeoMother.

Kamakoti further highlighted that the institute has received a total of 366 patents for various technologies developed within its premises so far in the current fiscal year, marking a significant surge compared to the 204 patents granted throughout the entirety of the previous fiscal year. As reported by businessline, IIT Madras filed 241 patents in the last fiscal year, and this figure has risen to 325 thus far in the ongoing fiscal year.
