India Ranks Sixty-third on Energy Transition Index

India secured sixty-third position on the global Energy Transition Index, as revealed by World Economic Forum (WEF). The report highlights India’s notable progress in energy equity, security, and sustainability.

European countries have claimed the highest rankings, with Sweden at the top, followed by Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, and France completing the top five. China is positioned at twentieth.

India’s advancements, alongside those of other developing nations such as China and Brazil, are significant, especially given that 83% of countries have regressed in at least one of the three dimensions of energy system performance – security, equity, and sustainability- compared to last year.

As reported by msn.com, the WEF commended India for its pioneering initiatives that could serve as models for other regions. The report suggests that governments can enhance energy transition by fostering awareness and implementing policy measures, such as guidelines for energy-efficient infrastructure and incentives for retrofitting, to create a supportive environment for faster adoption of sustainable practices.
