In a visionary step towards sustainable energy, solar power is projected to account for 46 percent of India’s power capacity by 2047, amounting to an impressive 856 gigawatts (GW). The forecast is derived from the “India Energy Security Scenarios 2047,” a detailed analytical tool developed by NITI Aayog, highlighting a significant move towards renewable energy.

Under the Business-As-Usual (BAU) scenario, the integration of solar energy is expected to surge, driven by advancements in solar technology that improve the efficiency of solar power generation.

In support of the green transition, the ministry of environment, forest, and climate change implemented the E-Waste (Management) Rules on April 1, 2023. These regulations aim to manage the disposal and recycling of used solar photovoltaic modules or panels, emphasizing the recovery of valuable materials as required by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, through the focus on recycling solar infrastructure and promoting environmentally sustainable energy solutions, the government is taking substantial steps to align India’s energy sector with global sustainability standards.
