India’s First Green Hydrogen Plant for Steel Sector Inaugurated

Inauguration of India’s first green hydrogen plant by minister for steel, Jyotiraditya Scindia within the stainless-steel sector at Jindal Stainless Limited, Hisar, marked a significant milestone. India’s unwavering commitment to a sustainable future, emphasised the imperative of responsible economic progress in the post-COVID era.

The minister highlighted initiatives such as Panchamrit and Mission LiFE, reflecting India’s comprehensive approach to development, which prioritizes environmental stewardship alongside human prosperity. Scindia lauded the country’s advancements in the steel sector and emphasized the transformative potential of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) in positioning India as a global leader in green hydrogen production.

As reported by India Brand Equity Foundation, the green hydrogen plant represents a significant technological achievement, incorporating rooftop and floating solar components. Its primary objective is to annually reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2,700 metric tons, thereby contributing to a cumulative reduction of 54,000 tons of CO2 emissions over the next two decades.
