IOCL to Build Green Hydrogen Project in Panipat

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) finalised the levelised cost of hydrogen (LCoH) for its upcoming green hydrogen project at the Panipat refinery and petrochemical complex. The milestone marks the company’s formal foray into green hydrogen. It also positions IOCL at the forefront of India’s clean energy transition.

10,000 Ton Plant to Power Refinery Decarbonisation

The green hydrogen facility, with a planned annual capacity of 10,000 tons, is set to become India’s largest once operational. Scheduled for commissioning by December 2027, the plant will supply green hydrogen to replace fossil-derived hydrogen currently used in refinery operations. This shift will play a key role in reducing the carbon footprint of the complex.

Driving Emissions Reduction and Climate Action

By switching to green hydrogen, IOCL expects a significant reduction in carbon emissions. This supports both national climate targets and the company’s own sustainability goals. The move aligns seamlessly with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and IOCL’s broader decarbonisation roadmap.

Pioneering India’s Green Energy Future

The strategic project reinforces IOCL’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. As reported by projectstoday.com, the company is a trailblazer in the green hydrogen space. It is not only advancing its Net Zero ambitions but also contributing to India’s energy transformation through bold and future-ready solutions.
