Jakson Green bagged contract from NTPC to establish a facility for producing 4G ethanol from flue gas emissions. The planned facility in Lara, Chhattisgarh, will produce ten tons per day (tpd) of 4G ethanol from the flue gases emitted by power plants.

Jakson Green has been chosen as the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction (LEPC) partner to implement the project that converts CO2 from flue gas into 4G ethanol.

The plant will capture 25 tpd of CO2 from the flue gases, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Using advanced microbial fermentation technology from LanzaTech, the captured CO2 and hydrogen will be transformed into ethanol. Additionally, three tpd of green hydrogen will be generated through a 7.5 MW electrolyzer.

As reported by Projects Today, the initiative, developed by NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA), NTPC’s R&D division, is expected to become operational within two years. Boosting ethanol production is vital for meeting blending targets, enhancing energy security, and promoting a cleaner future.
