JSW Group (JSW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s POSCO Group to develop an advanced integrated steel plant in India.

This facility, with an initial production capacity of five mtpa, will help meet the nation’s increasing steel demand.

JSW and POSCO Partnership – Strengthening Steel, Battery Materials, and Renewable Energy Sectors

The MoU sets a framework for collaboration in steel manufacturing, battery materials, and renewable energy. India’s robust economic growth is driving a steel demand rate that exceeds GDP growth. This creating favorable conditions for investment in sustainable energy and electric vehicles (EVs). The JSW and POSCO partnership will address these needs, helping to meet rising steel demand while advancing green energy initiatives.

Sustainable Growth Through High-Capacity Steel Production

Under this JSW and POSCO partnership, the companies will also explore synergies in battery materials.

JSW’s manufacturing network and project execution capabilities, combined with POSCO’s technological innovations in steel and energy, offer an ideal platform for delivering for India’s steel and energy sectors.

MoU Ceremony Unites Industry Leaders

The MoU signing ceremony was held at JSW’s Mumbai headquarters. Dignitaires present included JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, POSCO Chairman Chang In-hwa, and senior officials from both organizations. This new steel plant will elevate India’s global position in the steel industry and support economic growth.
