JSW Energy is set to establish a wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in Karnataka.
The strategic move aims to ensure a consistent supply of wind turbine generators (WTGs) for the company’s renewable energy projects while reducing costs.
Investment and Manufacturing Capacity
Setting up the plant will require an estimated investment of around $50 million. The facility is expected to have the capacity to assemble 400 to 500 turbines annually.
JSW Energy already owns land at its 12.5 million-ton-per-annum steel manufacturing facility in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, which provides an ideal location for the new plant.
Integration with Existing Operations
In addition to its steel manufacturing operations, It also runs a 225 MW solar power plant in the region.

Collaborations
In March, JSW Renewable Technologies, a subsidiary of JSW Neo Energy, entered into a technology licensing agreement with China’s Sany Renewable Energy.
The agreement enables the production of 3.6 MW WTGs in India. JSW plans to purchase four MW WTGs from Sany Renewable Energy. The company is also in preliminary discussions to acquire five MW turbines.
