JSW Steel is set to invest $1 billion to reduce carbon emissions, targeting net-zero emissions by 2050. The initial phase, to be completed by 2030, aims to lower emissions to 1.95 tons of CO2 per ton of steel.
By 2050, the company plans to achieve net neutrality through green hydrogen and carbon capture, utilization, and storage. As reported by projectstoday.com, the steel industry uses nearly twenty percent of the industrial energy in the country, prompting JSW Steel to adopt enhanced processes, energy efficiency measures, renewable energy sources, high quality raw materials, and alternative fuels.
