Juno Joule Green Energy Private Limited, a renewable energy firm in India, signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany-based energy trading firm S.E.T. Select Energy GmbH and its green energy subsidiary Select New Energies GmbH (SELECT). The agreement aims to co-develop and market green ammonia produced in Andhra Pradesh.

Juno Joule CEO Nagasharath Rayapati and Felix Danger, Managing Director of Select New Energies, officially signed the MoU during the World Hydrogen Summit 2025 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Dignitaries from both nations attended the high-profile ceremony, highlighting the strategic importance of Indo-German collaboration in the green energy space.

Green Hydrogen Hub to Rise on India’s East Coast

The proposed facility near Mulapeta Port on India’s East Coast will produce up to one million tons of green ammonia annually. It will derive this from approximately 1,80,000 tons of green hydrogen generated via electrolysis. The project, developed in three phases, ranks as one of India’s most ambitious green fuel infrastructure investments—estimated at ₹10,000 crore.

Sustainable Design with Integrated Water and Renewable Energy Systems

A standout feature of the project is its integrated desalination plant. It will convert seawater into high-purity water for electrolysis, ensuring zero reliance on freshwater sources. The electrolysis process will be powered by a diverse mix of solar, wind, and hydropower – ensuring uninterrupted, renewable energy supply in full compliance with RFNBO (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin) standards. A dedicated pipeline will connect the facility directly to the port, enabling seamless export of green ammonia to global markets.

Leaders Emphasize Global Significance

“This partnership allows us to build one of India’s largest and most competitive green energy hubs,” said Nagasharath Rayapati. “SELECT’s proven strength in energy trading and logistics will accelerate our shared mission of enabling a global transition to a low-carbon economy,” Rayapati added.

Felix Danger Managing Director, Select New Energies added, “The project showcases how global energy transition can be interconnected across borders. India’s strategic position in renewables and export logistics enables e-fuel distribution to local and international markets. We’re proud to support Juno Joule in this transformative journey.”

Positioned to Serve Europe and Asia

The facility’s strategic location and robust infrastructure will make it a major supplier of green hydrogen and ammonia to European and Asian markets. Once fully operational, the plant will eliminate over 1.8 million tons of CO₂ emissions annually, supporting global decarbonization goals.

Driving the Global Green Molecule Value Chain

The collaboration strengthens bilateral cooperation between India and Germany. It also marks a significant step forward in scaling up clean energy infrastructure. According to the company press release, Juno Joule and SELECT’s joint initiative clearly shows their commitment. They focus on advancing the green molecule economy. It also focuses on building a sustainable energy future for all.
