The Karnataka government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GAIL (India) Ltd to develop approximately 1 GW of renewable energy capacity in the state. The ambitious partnership marks a major step in advancing Karnataka’s clean energy leadership.
Rs 5,000 Crore Investment to Power Green Future
The project is backed by a substantial investment of ₹5,000 crore and aims to make efficient use of available land resources. By leveraging both leased land and land facilitated by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), the state is streamlining approvals and providing key concessions to fast-track implementation.
Diverse Renewable Portfolio in the Pipeline
GAIL will lead the charge in deploying a diversified mix of renewable energy technologies. The company plans to explore a combination of solar and wind power solutions to maximize energy output and sustainability.
Positioning Karnataka as a Green Energy Hub
As reported by devdiscourse.com, the collaboration would not only strengthen Karnataka’s position as a green energy hub but also drive employment and infrastructure development across the region.
Swift Approvals and Land Access to Accelerate Rollout
Industries minister M B Patil assured that the government has prioritized land availability. Mechanisms are already in place to ensure rapid acquisition. “This partnership reflects our commitment to clean energy and industrial growth. It will also create jobs and long-term value for Karnataka,” he stated.
